My name is Hilary Shew, and I am the owner of Ozark Tutoring. Feel free to visit my website at www.ozarktutoring.com. Also, I am an educational blogger at www.blog.ozarktutoring.com. I enjoy writing about educational trends, technology, English, and the cultural arts. I am an English educator with over thirty years' experience in education. I earned an A.B.J. from the University of Georgia and an M.S. and an M.Ed. from Georgia State University. I previously taught high school and junior high school English for ten years in Metro Atlanta and privately tutored students. Since moving to Arkansas, I have privately tutored students and have been a freelance writer. My subject areas of expertise include English (grades 7–12), test preparation, study skills, reading, writing, grammar, literature, and editing. I have also taught a creative writing class for the continuing education department at a local college. In 2014, I published a World War II historical narrative, Endeavor: One Polish Family's Journey from Siberia to Freedom, which is available at Amazon.com.
The following overview represents my personal educational philosophy: 1) I believe that a teacher should hold the highest expectations for each student, 2) I believe that students learn at different rates, 3) I believe that students possess one or more learning styles, and 4) I believe a teacher should consider diverse student populations.
