I am now in my sixth year of teaching at the Upper Elementary Level. I taught Cherokee language and culture for 2.5 years to Pre-K and Kindergarten Children. I currently teach 5th grade Social Studies and Science. I have learned so much from the wonderful teachers around me and I can't wait to learn more.
I love using Social Studies Centers all year round. They are helpful in bringing literacy and vocabulary skills into Social Studies all while helping students learn valuable historical facts.
2014 Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute Participant It was such an amazing experience for a history nerd like me! Colonial Williamsburg really treated us with the utmost respect and really has a love for teachers. I would recommend that if you teach 5th grade social studies you should apply for their summer grant programs.
I majored in History and never dreamed of being a teacher. I may have taken the long way around, but I have finally found my true passion....teaching! I really have a passion for all things history and hope that I can give back some of that passion that my professors gave to me, to my students. I am now working on my Graduate Degree in American Studies!
I am a wife, teacher and momma of two beautiful children. I love to spend my days with my family. I have such a great support network in them.
