As a teacher, we all wear many hats! Teacher, counselor, nurse, friend, etc... Wow! I have been a teacher for over 31 years! I taught 4th grade for only one year before finding my niche in 6th Grade. I absolutely loved being an upper elementary classroom teacher for 23 years. When I felt like I was ready for a change, I found another path. I am now a School Technology Specialist / Instructional Coach where I have many opportunities to work with students and teachers in all grades (K-12). So much fun! I am also an Adult Basic Education teacher for those students who are trying to get their GED or High School Diploma. I work with people who, because of many diverse reasons, had to drop out of school before graduating. I also work with a high number of ELL students who never had the opportunity to attend school until coming to the U.S. So many great experiences had...so many more down the road! I am looking forward to what the future brings!
My teaching style? I love engaging students in activities that make them think more deeply. I use a lot of critical and creative thinking activities. I was one of the first groups of teachers in Utah to be trained in the eMINTS program. This philosophy is based upon Inquiry-based Learning, High-quality Lesson Design, and Classroom Community all powered and supported by technology.
I have received the Coca-Cola Always Teaching Award and have been honored to be the Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year for the state of Utah.
I received my Elementary Teaching Degree from Brigham Young University, and my Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I am currently working to become a Google Certified Teacher.
I am beginning my 2nd year on TpT and have loved every minute of my experiences here. I am excited to be part of such a creative and hard-working group of people.
