I taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade (the majority of my time being in 1st) for 11 years for the Chicago Public Schools. I was constantly developing curricula for my own students...which led me here! Currently homeschooling my two toddlers. :)
Teddy bear meets drill sergeant--I don't mess around but I also have a quirky sense of humor. I like to incorporate as much hands on learning as much as possible. I'm a fan of getting up and moving around, authentic art, social/emotional development, working in cooperative groups, and fostering a sense of community, acceptance, and cultural appreciation.
I was voted Best Teacher Ever by my students. :-)
I have a bachelor's degree in Communications from Loyola University Chicago and a master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University. I also hold an ESL endorsement and an early childhood special ed approval.
