TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I received my bachelor’s of science in education from Sam Houston State University and hold a type 03 certification in grades K-9. Over the last seven my life has been centered around children in a variety of ways. My areas of expertise and experience encompass teaching English as a second language, teaching preschool, and teaching fifth, sixth, and seventh, and eight grade social studies. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela

MY TEACHING STYLE

Throughout my years of teaching I have used various teaching styles to obtain success with my children. I have implemented differentiated instruction, all levels of blooms taxonomy, student centered activities, and a focus on visual and analytical styles. I also use technology and games in my classroom instruction.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a certified teacher in the states of Texas and Illinois with leadership and training in differentiated instruction. I have also been awarded teacher of the month.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have received a bachelor of science in education from Sam Houston State University. I have completed my certification in grades K –9 under the Illinois state board requirements.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Over the last seven years my life has been centered around children in a variety of ways. My areas of expertise and experience encompass teaching English as a second language, I’ve taught preschool, fifth, sixth, seventh grade social studies, being differentiated instructional leader, volunteering, and after school programs. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.
