Growing up I never thought I would be a teacher but before I knew it I was in love with teaching. Like mother, like daughter. :) I started working with PreK 2 tots, subbing in PreK 3 and 4 occasionally. I strongly considered getting a Master's in Early Childhood Education, but instead found myself teaching 2nd grade and then 3rd grade. This school year (2015-2016) will be my fourth year teaching 3rd grade.
I love teaching kids of any age. My personality is similar to a child's, which may sound strange, but I can really identify with their passion for learning and natural curiosity. As for my teaching style, I love indulging in teachable moments whenever I can because they are a glimpse into the children's passions. I really enjoy tweaking curriculum to make it more hands-on and exciting.
No official awards but my students have made up awards for me. :)
My mom has been a teacher my whole life; I've absorbed a lot of great skills from her. My dad was a very patient teacher when I was growing up. He taught me about nature, fishing, using various tools to make and fix things around the house. I went to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and graduated in 2012 with a B.A.E. in Elementary Education and an ESOL endorsement. I have worked with students from PreK 2-8th grade.
I married my husband, Eric, in March of 2015. We have 3 sweet, snuggly kitties and a house in South Florida.
