TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Including a combined time spent in public and private school I have over 40 years of experience in the field of education.I first began as a classroom teacher, next as a computer teacher, and now as a Licensed Academic Language Therapist. During the summer I also enjoy teaching at Key SchooI, a school that helps students with learning differences. I still stay excited about learning new ways to engage my students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classes are engaged from the time they enter the classroom because I use multisensory activities. They are never expected to perform any task that has not been completely taught and reviewed. There is continual dialogue to assure understanding with fun interactive activities.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been a part of writing two grants. One grant was for a computer program called E-READER, which enabled a student to read or be read to on the computer selected or scanned text. This past year, two other therapist and I wrote a grant for decodable chapter books for our dyslexic students. Most of all I enjoy receiving a thank you for helping a student, or just a report that they are being successful in the classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Wichita Falls High School, Wichita Falls, Texas Midwestern University, Wichita Falls, Texas Lead 1995-1997 became a Certified Academic Language Therapist 2010- became a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist Certified ESL teacher Trained in Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Program Trained in Take Flight Multisensory Program

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am now teaching in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD with six other Dyslexia Therapist. I find it very challenging and rewarding to teach students that have been identified as dyslexic.
