TEACHING EXPERIENCE

CURRENTLY: Dean of Culture at a 6-8 grade charter school in Los Angeles. I taught studio arts for two years at a middle school (grades 4-8) in Newark, NJ. Most lessons centered around drawing, painting, and mixed media but also dabbled in clay and computer design. Then, made the move to Los Angeles where I have taught special education (grades 6-8) in a Resource Specialist program for three years. My main focus was teaching basic reading skills: phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension to students who were 4-5 years behind grade level, English Learners, and students with learning disabilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Providing students with plenty of choice and freedom as a way to gain engagement and foster life long skills.
