TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching 1st grade for 28 years. I have been a team leader and I work with student teachers from the College of William and Mary.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands-on interactive teaching. I use power points and the document camera so that it will be more visual for my first graders. I love using games to keep the children actively engaged.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My team nominated me for and I won an award from the local tv station for my accomplishments as a teacher.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I also have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love teaching 1st grade and watching how they grow in reading, writing, math and socially/emotionally. I am a mother of a wonderful son. I have learned so much about the learning process through watching him grow over the years. I am the Lead Clinical Faculty teacher for my school. I help to place student teachers from W&M into classrooms. I am a cooperating teacher nearly every year and love teaching student teachers how to teach. I also gain great ideas from them!
