I have been in education for 17 years. Most of my experience is in upper and lower elementary. I've been a preschool aid and taught second, third, fourth, and sixth grade. In addition, I've coached junior high and high school. I am involved in designing and implementing professional development for teachers as well. I work with teachers to design student-centered classrooms, Common Core classrooms, implement inquiry-based lessons, and provide ways to use assessments to guide instruction.
I create a structured, yet flexible student-centered classroom where I am often in the role of a facilitator. Most of my lessons begin with inquiry/exploratory based learning. I then use the Gradual Release Method of: I Do (teacher modeling), We Do (together), and You Do (independent learning).
