I love language, culture, and working with children, which is what led me to study linguistics, teaching English to speakers of other languages, and multicultural education throughout my bachelor's, masters and post-master's studies. I have taught young English Language Learners (ELLs) from around the world for the past 12 years at a public elementary school in Brooklyn, NY. I am lucky to have been able to design my own curriculum, and am happy to share these resources with the TPT community.
In my school, we teach English as a New Language through a balanced literacy approach. We use children's literature, non-fiction resources, and visual materials as a vehicle for teaching language and literacy, and to help ELLs meet the demands of the common core standards.
