TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught thousands of teachers and students over my career in education including 33 years in the classroom, 18 of those years facilitating hands-on math and science workshops in the summer as a national consultant for AIMS Education, and now as a teacher coach. My goal is to provide practical, easy to implement information and research-based ideas that can be used for years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style in the classroom and as a facilitator of teacher workshops is always hands-on and interactive. I always think, "What am I going to do to teach this concept followed by reading and writing about the concept and ending with the making of a picture, graph, chart, or graphic organizer to build a bridge to higher-level thinking."

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My biggest and most exciting honor was writing and being awarded a three year grant in 2005 that named my school, Harriet Tubman School in Dolton, IL, a NASA Explorer School.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Besides gaining a masters degree in curriculum and design, I have had the opportunity to receive leadership training for over 20 years from the AIMS Education Foundation in both science and math followed by leadership training with Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt School publishers and Pearson Education with trainings by renowned researchers like Isabel Beck, Dorothy Strickland, and Pam Allyn.
