TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been a classroom teacher in New Orleans for 10 years- teaching grades 1-3. I have experience as a Reading Interventionist and Teacher Coach. Additionally, I write Reader's Workshop and Close Reading curriculum for my charter network. I am also an Adjunct Professor for Relay GSE.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a multi-modality approach to teaching. I have developed a musical/kinesthetic phonics routine to help my struggling readers memorize sounds and letter patterns. I aim to make my teaching as sticky as possible!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Featured in John Merrow's book, "The Influence of Teachers" Charter Network Finalist: "Prove the Possible" Award

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I came to New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina, where I joined teachNOLA as a teaching resident. I then attended the University of New Orleans, where I received my teaching license. Two years ago, I received my MAT from Relay GSE.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the mother of a wild 16-month old boy and have a baby on the way! I spend my free time reading, "pinning," and biking.
