My background is in nursing and youth work. Teaching occurs in many areas and venues and not just in the classroom. During my nursing career I have taught many topics to many groups, from parents, patients to doctors. Working with inner city youth is a challenge in itself and education is a vital component. Many young people are unable to learn in a traditional setting so various learning techniques are needed to achieve success. Any venue and environment is a teaching moment and have enjoyed stretching my mind to teach whenever possible.
Whatever it takes for a student to learn is the teaching style I adopt. Everyone learns differently so the educator needs to cater for each learning style. Visual, aural and verbal styles need to be mixed together to allow opportunity for all to learn well.Teaching for me needs to be student-centric and I enjoy facilitating the learning process. Photography aids the learning experience by providing accurate pictures that other visual tools do not provide. Good photos enhance the learning experience and help build background knowledge. Photos are the best media for visualization of topics and key concepts, providing the student with the best possible resources for success.

I have two passions, photography and wildlife. I was privileged to have studied at Finger Lakes Community College studying wildlife and fisheries. During this time I was able to participate in some amazing experiences. I also love to travel and never go anywhere without my camera. Originally from England I now live in the Unites States and am enjoying visiting the different states. Each trip provides opportunities for me to learn about different cultures and of course take more photos.
