Hi There. I so excited to join the TpT team. I have been a teacher for many years. I started my career in New York City, and I fell in love with children's literature. I didn't have many resources then, and went to the public library to get ideas on helping my students succeed. Then, with a lot of love and support by my administration, I started to create and publish books for my students. I love to draw, paint, color, illustrate, and write. I have created many poems, songs, and art work in my classroom. I am currently creating centers and other great projects for my students to learn. I use the arts to teach all of the subject areas. I also love to write and create plays with my students. They are so much fun.Teaching is such a rewarding job, especially when you see a child smile and grow in your classroom.
I am a interdisciplinary teacher who loves to use sensory detail within my classroom. We teach to a diverse group of students, and learners need to be taught in a variety of ways to enhance their learning. I sing, dance, act, and create with my students everyday. They love to listen, touch, feel, experience, and create different activities in the classroom in all areas. When they realize that subjects relate to each other, and they say this, it brings joy to my heart.
I was the teacher of the year in my school. I had the wonderful opportunity to direct many plays with my students and other teachers within my district. I have published five books, and they are available on the Amazon website under Phylis Stacey Shapiro.
Going to school for education was such a rewarding experience. I have a Bachelor's Degree in two different fields, but that prepared me for my job now as an educator. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Art , and I have a Master's Degree in Special Education. I also have a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Elementary Education.
