I started my teaching career in the high school setting teaching mixed classes of 9th-12th grade students. I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 2 and tutoring students up to Statistics. I recently switched to teaching middle school where I teach Pre-Algebra, Core Math, and Algebra 1 and tutor all 3 grade levels. I have a passion for teaching students with disabilities so I've been taught in the inclusion setting for the majority of my teaching career thus far.
I have a very active classroom where my students are often working in groups, activities around the classroom, or getting small group instruction. When they are seated I have flexible seating in my classroom to allow for constant but quiet motion. I enjoy having a hands on and visual approach to teaching.
2017 Teacher of the Year for my school I've won 5 grants for Project Based Assessments in the last 2 years.
I recently earned my Master's Degree from Radford University in secondary mathematics education. I completed my undergrad work at Concord University.
