I have 35 years experience in early childhood education first and foremost as a preschool teacher. I have also worked at a Texas Education Service Center as a Head Start training specialist where I trained teachers and parents and Head Start staff. I currently spend my time in classrooms mentoring preschool teachers in public school, child care, and Head Start settings. I teach Emergent Literacy and Creative Arts for Young Children at a two-year college.
I believe in preparing young children to be successful in Kindergarten. I believe all preschool teachers should focus on cognitively challenging young children while being always mindful of Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Children should be given opportunities to learn in a fun, safe, interactive, and playful way and teachers should prepare an environment that is intentional and focused on best practices in early childhood.

I was a Speech Pathologist for 15 years before teaching preschool. My interests lie in language and literacy and developing fun ways for young children to learn about reading and writing. I have two preschool grandchildren who I love to "teach!"
