I have worked in pre-k through 1st 2nd grade in private, parochial, and Montessori Schools in Florida and Indiana for 9 years, and have taught 3rd grade in Chicago for 15 years. After retiring, I am substitute teaching in all grades, k-12, but am really enjoying middle school and high school!
I think teaching and learning should be joyful and creative, full of imagination and integration of subjects. I especially like to use music, poetry, and fine arts in my teaching.

I began my teaching education at Chicago State before marriage and children, then returned to school as an adult and took several classes at the University of South Florida. My goal throughout life was to teach, and I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from St. Xavier University in Chicago, and have continued with classes from the UIC in Chicago.
I am retired from teaching full time in Chicago, but fill my time as a full time substitute teacher in Michigan City, Indiana, and by writing poetry, using my students and life as an inspiration. I am married, with 4 grown children, 2 of whom are teachers, and 4 grandchildren.
