After graduating with a BS in Elementary Education, I taught for 3 years at a Montessori school, where I picked up amazing experience and a new perspective of how well students learn by doing and having fun. Following my time in Montessori, I realized my calling was to be a part of the special education field. I then earned my MA in Special Education with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities. I now am successfully teaching in my field in one of our states highly rated, school districts...and loving every day I am with my students!
I realize that trust and understanding is key to developing a strong foundation on which students can successfully learn, absorb, and use information. I also place importance on learning being fun and hands on. I enjoy being creative and use my creativity to mold and fit my curriculum to my students' individual learning needs. After all, learning and teaching are not always the same from year to year or even day to day. Rather, teaching and learning are ever evolving. Instead of fighting this change, I choose to embrace it and see the creative beauty in making learning a fun experience, rather than one that tires both student and teacher.
