TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for 6 years in the brick and mortar public school. I was a reading interventionist and specialist for all grade levels for one year. I taught 3rd grade for 5 years. 2016-2017 was my 7th year of teaching, and I opted to teach in the virtual setting, which was absolutely amazing; therefore, I will continue teaching virtual public school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a student-centered teacher. I love for student learning to guide my teaching. I want the students questioning their learning as well as anything that would prompt them to go deeper into subject matter. I like for the students to be able to independently surf the web to research topics of their choice, of course with parental supervision to ensure they don't happen upon something inappropriate.

I have an Associate's Degree in Math, a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education (P-6), and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Literacy. I also have special certifications in spiritual teachings.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a very well-rounded individual. If I haven't learned anything on a specific day, I feel that day was wasted. For four years in between teaching experiences, I was a Senior Store Manager for GNC. In this venue, I learned a lot about how adults learn since I had to teach my customers, associates, and managers about supplements (vitamins, minerals, sports, etc). This was an eye-opening experience in finding out how the adult mind works. This experience helped me learn how to facilitate teacher workshops later.
