I worked as a school and college librarian in the UK. I also taught a number of short courses: Printing, DTP, Internet searching, library skills and politics. Since 2004, I have been in Thailand, teaching at 3 different schools. At present, I am teaching English Grammar, Literature and Health.
I am quite strict in making sure that the students get through the work I expect them to do for the year, having said that when we are on top of things in the class, I like to have fun with the students which is why I develop games in my spare time. The students understand now that when we work hard we have time for the odd game at the end of a lesson or even for a whole lesson.
BA (hons) History. Numerous courses relating to libraries. Numerous health and safety courses. NEBSM Introduction to Management. Attended school of life. Night classes in a wide range of subjects, welding, stained glass, political theory, identification of mushrooms etc.
My education didn't all take place in an educational institution. I began life printing, when computers came along, I added teaching desk-top publishing to my printing course. After my degree as a mature student, I became a librarian, teaching internet searching skills and using a library. Prior to coming to Thailand I ran two different school libraries, modernizing both and computerizing their catalogues.
