I have been teaching for 33 years. All my experience has been in the primary grades. I taught 18 years in kindergarten, 10 years in first grade, and 5 years in second grade. I taught in several inner city schools in Houston, suburban schools, and even had the opportunity to teach overseas in Japan with the DODDS (Department of Defense of Dependent Schools) school system for four years. I currently teach second grade. I also have my ESL and GT certificates.
I believe students learn best with hands on activities. I have lots of hands on materials in my class for my ELA and math stations. The task cards I sell in my store are used with students who finish activities early. My task cards are a great student check on skills taught. The best part is that the text is large enough for students to use with seeing the text, however, not too small for students of the primary age. They are also colorful because students have a tendency to enjoy colorful items. You will not see many worksheet ideas in my store because of my belief in enjoyable activities and not pencil and paper.
The best award anyone could have in the teaching profession is to see the growth of their students over the school year span. I would have to say that it has been an honor to teach any student that has been in my classroom.
I received my B.S. from Penn State University, Pa. in early childhood education. I received my Masters of Education in supervision from University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas.
My name is Annette Bieda and I grew up in Pennsylvania on the east coast. I eventually moved to Houston, Texas to start my education career. I currently live in Houston with my four cats and one puppy.
