I am special education teacher finishing this year in a middle school self-contained autism classroom. I have previously taught a 12:1:1 classroom for students with multiply disabilities. I am about to enter my 5th year of teaching. Although I was a sub teacher for a year before I decided this was the only job for me. In my classroom, I address all academic subject areas as well as life skills, community based instruction, cooking, and behavior management. Next year I will be beginning a new and exciting journey in special education KINDERGARTEN!!!
My teaching style and techniques used in my classroom are based on research based practices and come from an ABA background. I also believe in tailoring the educational experience to the students needs. If everyone learned the same way there would be no Special in Special Education.
I graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a BA in English, I then attended the French Culinary Institute for Pastry Arts and Artisanal Bread making, I then joined the NYC Teaching Fellows and attended Pace University and graduate with a degree in Special Education with an extension in Middle School education.
