I have 16 years experience teaching in a public school. I've taught American Government/Civics for my entire career. Additionally, I have taught classes in Psychology, Advanced Placement Human Geography, American History and Constitutional Law
I like to let students discover their own learning, with a little guidance from me. You have to give them some knowledge to use as a basis for their discovery so they don't get frustrated. My classroom is a highly interactive classroom where deep reflection and thought is encouraged and practiced.
Twice I was chosen to be the Pennsylvania representative at prestigious summer institutes: United States Institute of Peace (6 days) Ashland University Presidential Academy (3 weeks)
I have a B.A. in Social Studies Education, a B.S. in Finance, and a B.S. in Marketing. Additionally, I have a Master's Equivalency and am currently working toward more graduate credits.
Teaching is a third occupation for me, so I came into it later in life than most people. I've taken the experience I have had in various fields and used it to my advantage when dealing with students and adults. It informs most of my decisions, even when I don't consciously think about it.
