TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm proud to have been a teacher for 26 years, with the majority of my experience being in first grade. Additionally, I was a basic skills teacher, working with K-8 students in literacy and math. I taught Reading Recovery for 5 years, and that experience impacted every day of my teaching since then! It has also been my privilege to present workshops at Reading Recovery Conferences at the state and national level. For the last 10 years of my career, I enjoyed teaching a self-contained first grade literacy intervention class, in which literacy instruction was infused throughout the curriculum. I presented several workshops on guided reading at the district level, and continue to present workshops to the parents of preschoolers on the topic of preparing for kindergarten. My goal is to provide teachers with rigorous hands-on resources sprinkled with fun, to keep the joy in both teaching and learning!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm a big proponent of hands-on learning! I also believe that children learn and retain their new knowledge best when they make connections. You'll see this reflected in the numerous cross-curricular resources in my store.
