TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my 12th year of teaching. I have taught inner city, suburban, and rural. I have taught public, private, and parochial. I have mostly taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I have also presented at conferences on Writing Workshop. I serve on the Early Childhood Leadership Team for the Lutheran Education Association. I m currently a preschool teacher at a small, parochial school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. Different ideas and students need different types of teaching styles. I use a lot of differentiated instruction and teach in small groups. I use a combination of direct-instruction, cooperative learning, and project-based learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Teacher of the Month - Creative Curriculum; Graduate with Distinction - Capella University; Magna Cum Laude - Hope College; Delta Phi Alpha; I am also on the Early Childhood Leadership Team for the Lutheran Education Association and a Member of the International Reading Association and The Association of American Educators.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Language Arts and Elementary Education, German Education Minor - Hope College; MS in Early Childhood Education - Capella University
