I have been in the preschool field since 1989. I have worked in Head Starts, Early Head Start, First Steps, DayCare director and caregiver, and early intervention special education preschool. I have done home visiting and classroom. I have also done contract work for Child Protective Services. For the last couple of years I have been working with students who are homebound due to severe aggression and medically fragile children.
I am a laid back teacher who doesn't rush her students. I believe in building relationships with children and families to truly make a preschool family environment.
Other than being named Teacher of the Year for my building, my other honors are getting to teach beautifully children each year. I've been mom to some great kids and a happily ever after wife (finally, kissed a few frogs to find him)!
I received my Bachelors in Science in Kindergarten/Primary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN in 1989. I obtained my Masters in Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University Southeast in May 2013. My special education certification was completed in December 2013. My teaching license is Preschool-3rd grade in general education. My special education license is for preschool-12th grade.
My husband and I have a blended family of 5 children. We are recently empty nesters with our last away at school. Our family has attended all different post high school education facilities. We represent Indiana University, Galen School of Nursing, University of Louisville, Purdue University, University of Wisconsin Whitewater (soon to be Penn State University), Paul Mitchell School of Hair, and our youngest at University of Kentucky. Our family loves Disney and we have named all of our pets after Disney characters: Lilo our Havanese mix dog, Meeko a desert lynx cat, and Cruella our baby kitty whose mama chose us to be her human parents.
