I've been working as an educator in Lexington, Kentucky for 20 years and have many different experiences! I taught kindergarten for 10 years as well as two years in a 2/3 classroom and 4th grade. I served two years a Literacy Coach two years as an assistant principal. This year marks the beginning of my 5th years as an elementary school principal.
Over the years I have used just about every teaching style there is, so this is a hard question to answer! I believe that children learn best when they have an abundance of manipulatives to explore the problems we present. Children learn best through doing and experimenting with encouragement and guidance from adults. Additionally, children learn best and experience high degrees of success when they are authentically engaged with the content. I strongly believe in building relationships with children, families, and other stakeholders as the relationships are the building blocks for student success. I am a hands on learner and I tend to be a very hands on leader.

I am a very busy single mom of a beautiful and witty toddler. I love everything about the teaching profession from the lesson planning, to teaching, to analyzing student data, and making presentations for large groups of people. In my free time I enjoy cooking for lots of friends and families and I love to entertain in my home. Traveling is something I don't do often but when I do, you can find me on the beach or somewhere close to the social center of the city! I love digital scrapbooking, getting sucked into TPT product creations, and all things Real Housewives. Being from Kentucky means I bleed blue, love my Wildcats, am proud to be from the south, and love the SEC!
