TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for 7 years. All 6 years have been in first grade and 1 year is full day kindergarten. This coming fall, I will be moving to 2nd grade so I will really able to see the bookends of first grade. I have also had some experience with being a reading specialist and did my student teaching in a multi-age K-1 classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have never taught the same for 2 years in a row. My teaching style is reflective on what my students need. I try to make sure I am meeting my kiddos where they are at. We sing and move a lot. My classroom is all about student need. I do a lot of differentiation and small groups. I love using systems like the Daily 5 and Café in my classroom.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received the Golden Apple teaching award in 2011 and have been nominated for an Idaho Teaching Excellence award and Rookie of the Year.
