TEACHING EXPERIENCE

19 years teaching history courses at the middle school level.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to have a lively, good natured, music enhanced classroom where we learn and laugh every day.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Oak Crest Middle School Teacher of the Year 2003. Crystal Apple Teacher Award 2010 & 2016.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from SDSU with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. I taught one year in Central America and then returned to San Diego and earned a Single Subject Credential in Social Science. I recently earned a Master's degree in History.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born on the same day as Dr. Seuss and have always had a knack for making up silly rhymes and songs. I took this to a new level when I began to write songs based on the History Standards. I am a firm believer in the use of music across the curriculum and feel that using music in the classroom creates a classroom environment that the students look forward to each day.
