MY TEACHING STYLE

As a special education teacher, Shelly's style was highly individualized. A motto she adopted from the very beginning of her career summarizes her philosophy: If a child cannot learn the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn. She used a lot of humor and genuine empathy in her classroom. She respected her students...their strengths and their struggles. It is so powerful to put yourself in their shoes.
