TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 20 years of teaching experience at many different levels from Kindergarten to grade six. Helping kids learn is my passion!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Quest Teaching has grown out of my passion to make the classroom a place where students become so engaged and enthusiastic about their own learning, that they can't wait to come to school each day! I want that place to be my classroom and yours! The key to motivation is helping the kids to make connections between their learning and the ways they can use it in the world around them. I wrote the novel, The Jewel of Peru, to help my students connect to the characters and help tie the many concepts covered by the curriculum together. As I shared the story with my class, the result was magic! They loved it and were excited to learn about the many new topics that we studied because they related to what the characters were experiencing. Now I want to offer other classes this exciting new way of using the art of storytelling to bring the curriculum alive! I hope to provide teachers with products that will help them make their classroom and exciting place to be!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Another passion of mine is to make sure that all student, including those with disabilities, will be able to access my materials. To achieve this, I am currently working on interactive versions of the novel and the supporting materials which will have many inclusive features built in! As well, all QT materials will have assessments for different levels. I believe this needs to happen as we develop materials not just adapt them afterward. Having my own son, who has a disability, has helped me to see how important it is to have universal design built in to the products we use in our classrooms. This really allows students to take control of their own learning because they have the supports that they need to engage in independent learning!
