TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for ten years, primarily in urban settings and with struggling readers. I began my career as an English teacher, which is where my deepest content knowledge lies. I went back to school and got a master's degree in Special Education 7 years ago and have been teaching in various SpEd settings ever since. Many of my resources are differentiated right off the bat, since that's why my own classroom requires.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in student-centered, inquiry-based, hands-on learning whenever possible. I set the high bars for each of my students, though many of them are struggling readers or are learning to speak English. I love to engage students in group work and get them working with technology--specifically through the Google Educator suite.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended a mix of Catholic and public schools over the course of my school career, but eventually I graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School in Columbus, Ohio. After graduation, I went to Ohio University for my undergrad, where I earned my bachelors of arts in secondary English education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Shakespeare has been a passion my entire life, and I am so excited to push myself and discover new ways to make this rich, challenging text accessible to all students. If you have specific texts or students you'd like to discuss with me, I am happy to brainstorm with you ways to get everyone in your classroom engaged with Shakespeare! I am even open to making resources that are specifically suited to your needs. Reach out any time. Check out my blog! http://www.quickbrightthings.com/
