After working in Biomedical Research, I made the leap into teaching. I absolutely love teaching and helping students to find their voice and take ownership for their learning. Since 2009, I have worked in the capacity of a teacher of math, science, ELA, and theatre at middle and high school levels. Fortunately, the myriad of courses that I have taught provided insight for crossing content areas. Reading and writing analytically is at the core of many of my lessons. I truly hope to share my knowledge and passion for teaching especially when it comes to implementing culturally responsive lessons in the classroom.
Each day that I stand before a group of students, I remind myself that I may be their best chance. We are part of a profession that gives us great power in terms of the impact we will have on our students. Each day, I commit to helping my students to grow and providing them with tools that will empower them to control their destiny. I truly believe that all students can learn if we make the content accessible. My products include scaffolds for struggling students, challenges for high achieving learners, and tons of opportunities to talk about global citizenship!
