For about a decade I had the opportunity to teach at an inner-city magnet school in a Title I school district. During this time, I was able to teacher a wide variety of classes because of our small size. I taught PreAP Chemistry, PreAP Algebra I, PreAP Algebra II, PreAP Geometry, PreAP and Dual Enrollment Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC.
My classroom operated under an inquiry-based method of instruction, meaning the students were presented with a broad task or problem to solve on their own and used prior knowledge and questioning strategies to work their way through it. The students learned to rely on each other to work through their assignments and discovered the new material for themselves, as opposed to being told how to do it. For this method of instruction to be successful, it required specific types of curriculum. The supplemental resources I provided my kids needed to engage them, provide ample amounts of practice, and be easily checked so I was able to oversee the tasks they were preforming. This is how Qwizy was born, and now I am sharing these creations with you all.

The success I saw from implementing inquiry based learning in my classroom taught me the importance of different teaching strategies and techniques that should be incorporated in the classroom as often as possible. However, these techniques require a large variety of differentiated instructional materials for each lesson so you can try to reach all students, no matter their level. This is why most of my resources consist of multiple different problem sets for teachers to use in their classrooms however they see fit.
