I have taught at the community college level for 13 years in the State of Washington. I have been teaching full-time in Idaho at the secondary level since 2002. I initially started out teaching multiple grade levels of English and Journalism in a smaller school district. I have since moved to a larger district and now teach 9th grade Spanish and English as well as an 8th grade remedial English course. Currently, I am involved in several professional organizations including being the Vice-President of the state foreign language organization and being a teacher consultant for NIWP (the writing project in our area).
I strive to be innovative and rarely teach from last year's plans. I love to use/build units that have multiple options and approaches because I have found that what works for one group may not necessarily work for another group.
Idaho Middle Level Region II teacher of the year - 2007-2008
Bachelor of Arts - Spanish from Texas Lutheran University Additional courses totaling over 70 credit hours in English and Linguistic studies.
I have three small children and live a few miles from where I teach in a small river community at the base of the Hells Canyon recreation area. I come from a family of teachers, both of my parents taught my siblings or me at some point, and my sister and I are now also teachers. Education is part of who we are and I strive to continually learn.
