I am a primary school teacher in Australia and have been teaching now for 7 years (the time has just flown). I have taught across a range of different year levels and have also had the opportunity to work as a LST (Learning Support Teacher) and as an ED/BD (Emotionally Disturbed/Behavioural Disorders) Teacher (that was an interesting year). I have worked in three very different primary schools which have each offered me a range of different teaching experiences. I have just got a job as an Assistant Principal and am looking forward to that challenge.
Hmmm… this is an interesting one. I would definitely have to say that I'm a big believer in developing a positive rapport with students and I think that this is one of my biggest strengths. I think getting to know them on a personal level really helps to foster a positive classroom environment. With this in mind, I am also very firm. I set very high expectations and I stick to them. I am a big fan of John Hattie and use his principles of Visible Learning, ensuring that the learning intentions and success criteria are made clear prior to each lesson.
Attended Wollongong University and received a Bachelor of Education with Distinction
Aside from teaching, I love to travel. I love the excitement and adventure that it brings and I believe it truly enriches the soul. Whether the place is hot or cold, city or country, desert or rainforest - I want to go there!
