I have taught grades pre-k through high school at some point or other in my career. I have taught in a special education classroom serving students with learning disabilities, other health impairments, mild and moderate mental impairments, emotional and behavioral disorders, gifted, and students qualifying on the autism spectrum in the special education setting and the general education setting. I currently teach fifth grade, a highly inclusive classroom due to my background and experience.
I believe in teaching kids what they need not teaching a text or test. I change my style to teach the kids that end up in my room. Overall whatever style I may be teaching with is implanted into a structured environment where student's are expected to live up to high standards and be leaders because that is what they truly are deep inside. I believe in my kids. I believe in positive reinforcement paired with realistic consequences. I believe in showing kids I care, because I do.
