Over 3 years of classroom experience and 5 years of homeschool teaching experience. I have taught 2nd-grade Mathematics through Algebra 1. The math classes I taught were combined; 2nd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th. What an experience! I have also taught 5th-6th grade Reading, Art and Social Studies. Also 7th-8th Social Studies. All in the same year if you were wondering.
I once took a "teaching style" quiz in one of my Education classes. The quiz said I had an Idealistic teaching style. I honestly can't say if that is true. I truly feel that I adapt to whatever each student needs. If I am original, I am probably not "idealistic". I do feel like I am a facilitator; I love teaching students to use their critical thinking skills.

I am a 5th year homeschooling mother. My daughter is in 11th grade. I decided to homeschool after she was in my class at a small private Catholic School. What I realized during the time that my daughter was in my class was the true reason she struggled in her Pre-K - 4th-grade years. She had trouble focusing, not only when the classroom was noisy, but all the time. It wasn't discipline she needed, it was encouragement. Soon, she was one of the first people done with her work. Wow! It was amazing to me how a little encouragement helped her. At the same time, I wondered what environment she had in her grade school classrooms. She seemed to truly dislike school in her grade school years.
