TEACHING EXPERIENCE

National Board Certified ELA Teacher. This is my 19th year in education, 17 of which have been as a 6th grade ELA teacher. For the last few years, I have also taught social studies. I have taught regular education and integrated students. I also coach candidates for National Board Certification and have created and presented a national webinar on the teacher evaluation process. Many of my offerings will be labeled "distraction free". This means that there is minimal, if any, clip art, lines are spaced at 1.5, and the font will be 14. This type of formatting is often preferred by students who need assistance focusing on their task.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Student-driven! I know that students learn best when their curiosity and interest is piqued, and when they are provided with a meaningful variety of activities. Students need to know that they can be successful and that they have the support they need to reach a higher level of mastery, and that is why I create materials that promote excitement as well as provide supports and challenges.
