TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 22 years. Two of those years were spent as an academic coach out of the classroom. I worked with teachers at all grade levels with curriculum design, instruction and assessment. I have taught grades 1-5 during my tenure.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe very deeply that students, children in general, have more enduring learning experiences when they are an active part of the process. I like to hear them learn and teach each other. I believe collaboration is the key to quality learning as is discussion as a class, as a group and even with oneself. I take my job seriously and push my students to accomplish their best at every turn. I do not accept mediocre and I stress personal responsibility and perseverance to that end. I love my profession.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My sons say I am the best mom in the world...does that count?

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Cosmetology License B.A degree in Liberal Studies with a focus in Sociology and African Studies. MS in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have two beautiful sons, 7 and 27. The youngest is in second grade and the oldest in graduating law school in May of this year (2016). Every thing I do, I do for them.
