I earned my Masters Degree in Communication Disorders in May 2011, my ASHA CCCs a year later, and I've been working in the public school system for over 6 years. The majority of my caseload is preschool to 8th grade population. My kids at school definitely keep me on my toes and I have to get very creative with scheduling; the kids have diagnoses ranging to from straight forward articulation and/or language disorders to Down Syndrome, autism, and ADHD.
I like to "sandwich" my therapy sessions. I like to start out with success, challenge my students in the middle, and end with success again. My therapy session activities are mainly student led; my opinion is if they are motivated to do an activity or learn, they will benefit.

I am a mother to 2 girls and a speech-language pathologist in the school system. With each passing year, I learn more and more and know for certain that speech-language therapy is my niche. My students and a lot, LOT, lot of self-reflection help me to learn more every day and have more "aha!" moments. When I'm not providing therapy, I'm at home with my 2 little girls, who serve as my speech therapy guinea pigs! We like to play outside, daydream, and farm!
