I've spent 6 years of my career teaching middle school English language arts and I am currently in my 2nd year working as a reading specialist in a K-8 school. I also work part-time teaching online ESL classes to students ages 4-12. I'm also a mom to two little ones, so my days are spent teaching reading and writing at a wide variety of levels. Middle school will always be my first love, but I am finding just as much joy teaching little ones!
I believe with all my heart that reading and writing matter and I love to make learning as relevant to students as possible. My goal is to create lessons that draw in real-world experiences and the unique passions and talents so that every lesson can be engaging and personal. My passion is teaching creative writing, specifically, poetry and I have an affinity for using picture books as mentor texts.
For me, the greatest honor I've had as a teacher is seeing my students use creative writing as a tool for self-expression beyond the walls of my classroom.

My hope is to share simple, yet effective strategies for inspiring our students to love reading and writing whether they are 2 or 12, in a traditional classroom setting, online, or home-schooled. I hope you will find inspiration to dream and create beautiful words and stories too. Let's get reading and writing!
