I have been teaching for nine years. I spent my first two years in kindergarten, and absolutely adored those little minds! For the last seven years, I have worked with 5th graders. Moving from Kindergarten to 5th grade was a HUGE jump, but it taught me something very important; kids are kids no matter how old they are who simply need patience, love, and understanding.
My teaching style is constantly evolving, but for the most part, I try to use a lot of flexible grouping.
My biggest honor in my career is being allowed to teach the most amazing students!
After working in the business world for 8 years with a BS in Organizational Management, I finally went after my real dream of becoming a teacher. I went back to college as a married mother of two when I was 29 years old to obtain my elementary education degree at Athens State University in Athens, AL. Recently, I obtained my Master's Degree in Teaching Reading and Literacy. I hope that my experience will teach my own children and my students that getting an education early in life is important, however, it is never too late to chase your dreams.
I have been married for 22 years and have two marvelous boys; ages 19 and 16
