I have been teaching in the public school setting for 10 years. I have a background in English and Special Education. I have taught general, honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) English classes for all 10 years.
I am a very kinesthetic person, and this translates into my teaching style. I believe my teaching style is that of a facilitator. I tend to focus on activities, and my style emphasizes student-centered learning where there is more responsibility placed on the students to take the initiative for meeting the demands of various learning tasks.
I have served on the VA SOL English Review Committee, my local Superintendent's advisory committee, and I serve as a lead teacher at my school. I am also the chairman of the English department at my school.
I completed my B.A. in English at Virginia Wesleyan College, and I have completed graduate work in special education and secondary education at Old Dominion University and the University of Virginia- Wise.
I am the faculty adviser for our Student Council Association (SCA), and I coach golf and forensics.
