The 2019-2020 school year will be my 22nd in the classroom. Most of these years have been spent in my favorite spot-kindergarten! I continue to grow and improve as a teacher by being a learner! In December of 2016, I graduated with an MA.ed as a Literacy Specialist. I am proud to teach kindergarten in an urban public school district. With a background in Christian education, I hope to reach out to private school teachers with my products, as well as to fellow elementary teachers in public schools.
I believe in hands-on, collaborative, joyful learning. My students might be the chattiest children in the building, but I'm proud of their ability to communicate with one another. Our classroom is a kind community, documented daily through photographs and classwork. My kinders know they are loved and appreciated!
I was honored with a Pettus Award for Excellence in Teaching, by my district, in 2015.
I have a BSE in Elementary Education, with additional certification in Early Childhood Education, from Truman State University. I also hold an MA.ed in Literacy and a reading certification K-12 from Maryville University.
My husband and I have been married for 30 years! We have four amazing children and one adorable grandchild; I was blessed to take a break from the classroom when my children were young. Now, I'm delighted to spend my days with kindergartners! I am a singer of songs, writer of words, and lover of lattes. Most days, you will find me with a book in my hand and coffee close by!
