I used this as a word work center paper. Students read the CVC words, write it again with the suffix S, then draw a picture. The picture was a way for me to make sure they were really reading the words and not just quickly recopying them.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my first year as a reading intervention specialist for grades K-5.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to do hands-on activties with the students to keep them interested. I want them to be excited to come to intervention. I try to incorporate games and the smart board frequently. I use decoding strategies with my students (lips the fish, stretchy snake, chunky monkey, etc.). I also teach specific comprehension strategies.
