18 Years Teaching Experience. I am also a published writer and have been published in "Teachers of Vision Magazine" (two articles: "How to Get Your Students to Write More!" and "The Classroom Read Aloud"). Other publications include "Grit", "Cats Magazine", "The Morris Report", "The News and Observer", "2 AM Magazine", "Sleuthhound", "Poets and Writers Magazine", "Writer's Gazette", and others.
As a Reading Recovery teacher, I learned to "follow the child" and I still teach that way. I try to make my lessons scaffolding lessons that start with what the child knows and builds on that foundation while teaching new concepts.
Third Place Award for my article, "Helping Hands Are Learning Hands" from Reader's Digest. Honorable Mention for my short story, "Beware of a Good-Natured Wife" by Beta Sigma Phi's International Short Story Contest.
