TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Former K-5 Elementary Teacher. Current Elementary School Library Media Specialist. Mentored as a classroom teacher and now as a media specialist. Instructional technology teacher for elementary teachers (iPad integration) and for Paraprofessionals (Technology Basics). Created a makerspace in my media center.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Plan, plan, plan. Fearlessly experiment. Laugh if it fails. Modify for the next time. Allow lots of creative noise - I'm not a shushing librarian! Reading + Making = Lots of learning that's fun!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Recipient of the 2012 Georgia Department of Education Exemplary Library Media Program. Employee of the Month for school system in 2012.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS in Early Childhood Education (1999). MLIS - Masters in Library and Information Science (2008).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Love to read and write, loving the maker movement and it's diversity. Love to try out new books and new things to make (from crafts to coding) with my 12 year old twins and my students at my K-5 school.I never stop asking the question, "Why?" and I don't want my children or students to do that either.

Teachers Pay Teachers
