I grew up in Grenada, the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. At 14, I moved to Syracuse, NY, an icebox in central NY. I graduated HS valedictorian, like my older sister making the parents proud. I completed two years at Onondaga Community College believe medicine was calling (actually it was my parent-selected calling). I realized that I was blessed with only one life to live to the fullest and changed my major to English and Journalism. In 2007, I graduated with my B.A. from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. I became certified in ELAR, 8-12. I received ESL certification via Southern Methodist University's Newcomer program. In 2014, I become a Google certified educator. In 2015, I graduated with my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently working on principal certification.
I am an islander at heart. I enjoy being lost in good poetry and a culturally relevant novel. I am a proud mother, forever grateful to have my daughter in my life. I am a believer in cultural pride and I live to instill such a spirit in the young lives that I touch.
